Responsibilities:

• Reviews research protocols.
• Accurately analyzes cardiac or vascular ultrasound image exams associated with single and multi-center trials following approved standard operating procedures and work instructions, synthesizes information, and enters findings in the appropriate analysis template.
• In addition to cardiac or vascular ultrasound, may include cardiac specific MRI, CT or Nuclear Medicine imaging.
• Uses cognitive skills to identify, quantify, record, and adapt analysis as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. 
• Uses knowledge of hemodynamics and pathophysiology to accurately calculate cardiac and vascular variables including but not limited to pressures, volumes, and velocities.
• Uses independent judgment during the analysis process to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Provides ongoing quality feedback to participating sites and study sponsors as part of continuing quality control.
• May assist with study specific set up and testing of electronic image transfer system.
• May be responsible for entering image results directly to applicable Electronic Data Capture systems.
• Monitors and reports project status.
• Communicates with director, manager, physician reviewers, Principal Investigators, sites, sponsors, monitors, and research personnel to ensure all aspects of study compliance.
• Provides technical support via telephone, email or fax to participating sites for improved quality images.
• Contributes to development of section standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• May assist with routine data cleaning/data management tasks following SOPs.
• Accurately enters arriving cases in tracking system.
• May assist in the development and maintenance of research tools, such as spreadsheets, questionnaires and/or brochures.
• Participates in department QA/QC process on an ongoing basis.
• Ensures that missing or illogical data from internal or external sources is queried and resolved before interim analysis, database lock, etc.
• Assists with preparation for audits and response to audits. Maintains preparedness / readiness for sponsor and/or Regulatory audits / inspections at all times.
• Adheres to research study protocols, Cleveland Clinic research policies, Federal regulations, applicable regulatory bodies, and Good Clinical Practice.
• Establishes, interacts, and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with Federal and commercial agencies and associated sponsors/vendors as well as multicenter sites and CCHS.
• Attends ongoing CME and regulatory training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Graduate of a diagnostic sonography program from a CAAHEP Accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Imaging.

Certifications:

• Must be currently credentialed and in good standing.
• Must be credentialed in the modality of specialization and maintain active registry and/or applicable licensure status. (ARDMS, CCI, ASRT, ARRT, NMTCB or similar)

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal pathology as it relates to cardiac or vascular ultrasound imaging and differentiate ultrasound image artifacts.  
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of imaging related calculations as it relates to hemodynamics and abnormal pathology.
• Must be able to accurately calculate cardiovascular variables including but not limited to pressures, volumes, and velocities.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of cardiac or vascular ultrasound calculations specific including M-Mode, 2D, and Doppler.
• Possess a current modality specific imaging certification or license and maintains active registry or licensure status (applicable to graduates of a diagnostic imaging program).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function independently and productively with minimal or no direct supervision.
• Familiar with computers, picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and related imaging archiving programs
• Ability to learn related imaging analysis, tracking systems and programs.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and off hours to meet critical or business deadlines as required.
• Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of computer-based skills, especially in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software, and the ability to undertake internet searches.
• Within 90 days of hire, must successfully complete certification in Human Subjects Research as required by the Responsible Conduct of Research guidelines adopted by Cleveland Clinic.
• Continually demonstrates competency with defined requirements for the position as established by Cleveland Clinic.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, predominately full-time medical ultrasound, performing required imaging exams.

• A minimum of 5 years of clinic experience performing cardiac ultrasound calculations which may include but not limited to M-Mode, 2D and Doppler.

Physical Requirements:

• A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer.
• Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Extensive sitting or frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
• May require working irregular hours
