Summary

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a caring, compassionate and reliable medical assistant to support the clinicians providing primary care services to private practice patients. This position will primarily be focused on triaging patients via phone.   This position is located at 3701 Kirby, Suite 100.  Location provides free, covered parking.

Job Duties

  • Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing the patient's needs and providing patient education.
  • Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
  • Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care.
  • Serves as primary IRIS scan operator. Completing assessment for interpretation of ophthalmologist.
  • Assists with administrative functions such as document scanning.  
  • Coordinates maintenance and repair of Family Medicine X-ray machines while completing monthly quality control.
  • Ensures accurate documentation in maintenance log and scheduling of annual EPE.
  • May need to educate patients about their conditions and self-care.
  • May need to assist providers in filling out health related paperwork for patients.
  • May need to order supplies.
  • Cross trains to gain proficiency in staffing Comm Center, monitoring inventory and converting visits to virtual appointments.  
  • Assists with scheduling and checking in of  patients. 
  • Monitors assigned provider baskets, complete high priority messages and address incoming patient encounters. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • No experience required.
  • Registration as a Radiologic Technologist, Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board (TMB).

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of related experience.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Epic experience.
  • Able to deal tactfully and courteously in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology.
  • May require the ability to type at a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • Must be reliable and flexible.
  • Must be able to follow directions, policy and procedures.
