Job Description

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Cell Biology. We encourage applicants with a research focus on cellular processes in any eukaryotic system. The faculty member will be expected to (a) obtain funding to support a vibrant research program in cell biology and to engage in undergraduates and graduate students in research; (b) be able to teach courses such as Cell Biology, aspects of general biology, and specialized courses in their areas of expertise; and(c) participate in regional, national, and international research communities.

The successful candidate must have (1) a doctorate degree in a life science or related discipline and postdoctoral experience; and (2) demonstrated success or potential for obtaining external funding to support an active research program. Preference will be given to applicants with (1) at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience, (2) a record of scholarship and publications in top-tier journals appropriate to the applicant’s field of study, and (3) an academic record demonstrating the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Faculty members in Biological Sciences interact with a diverse and congenial community of faculty, staff, and students within the Department. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to research and teaching in areas including Ecology, Environmental Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, and Plant Biology. We offer Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Forensic Science, as well as Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Environmental Science.
