Job Description:
GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Teach courses in Health, Physical Education and Coaching to students majoring in the Health and Physical Education programs and courses for all college majors needing Health and Physical Education courses.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach in Batavia and possibly campus centers and distant learning courses in the Health and Physical Education area.

Be familiar with computer applications and a variety of teaching strategies and alternative modes of instruction.

Collaborate with faculty in the review, development, assessment, and maintenance of quality Health and Physical Education offerings.

Advise students enrolled in the Health and Physical Education programs.

Assist in the recruiting and retention of students for the Health and Physical Education programs.


Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Background

Masters degree required in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health Education or related area.

Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with 5 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level; candidates with college level teaching experience will be considered.

Incumbent must have or be willing to acquire Instructor Certification in American Red Cross - Responding to Emergencies and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. NYS Training in School Violence Prevention and Intervention (SAVE), NYS Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (DASA), and NYSED approval to teach the NYSED Coaching certification courses is desirable. A background and/or ability to teach in Sport Management is a bonus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong teaching skills with familiarity in a wide range of instructional strategies and a commitment to student and retention-centered modes of instruction. Preparation to teach online preferred. Must demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment. Incumbent must be mindful of and develop solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and the community.
