Job Description

The Department of Chemistry has an opening for a postdoctoral or more senior researcher in the fields of coherent and incoherent optimal molecular control. The candidate will lead experimental research in the broad range of fundamental and applied areas of coherent and incoherent control strategies in Professor Herschel Rabitz's Laboratory. The primary research will be on a project titled "On-demand selective activation of chemical reactions via time-tuned photocatalysts". The candidate will need to creatively integrate high power pulsed laser diodes with a custom liquid flow reactor system and work in tandem with the academic counterpart at Princeton, Prof. Robert Knowles, for designing candidate reaction schemes.

The ideal candidate should be a physical chemist, with strong knowledge in lasers and chemistry, including detailed experience in optics and radiation driven quantum phenomena. Preference will be given to candidates who have recently received their Ph.D.

Expertise: optics, non-linear optics, ultrafast laser systems, Matlab and Labview software packages. Familiarity using electronic equipment such as current/voltage power supplies, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc. Working knowledge in microcontrollers programming (Arduino, PIC32), and PCB design and fabrication. A candidate must have the ability to work independently within a team environment as well as excellent organizational, record-keeping, verbal and written communication skills.

Positions are for one year with possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. These positions are subject to the University's background check policy.
