Summary

The Senior Associate, Clinical Research, is responsible for enhancing the investigators' and Veterans' interaction with the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center Research Commons to support and further the BCM-VA research mission, making MEDVAMC a destination for cutting-edge clinical trials and novel therapeutic approaches.

Job Duties

  • Facilitates the VA Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) and non-CSP screening, hiring, and training of incoming research coordinators.
  • Accelerates research coordinator’s understanding of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center Research Commons through monthly research coordinator training sessions.
  • Navigates clinical research and research administrative teams in preparation for audits (for non-CSP studies); performs internal reviews of clinical research and research administrative team’s progress; guides and advises the teams throughout an audit process.
  • Manages research commons space and room assignments utilizing an online scheduling system.
  • Leads the integration of service and support in the VA Research Commons to include, but is not limited to, cleaning and maintenance; meal delivery for Veteran subjects; working and essential office equipment in exam rooms, e.g., modern chairs, beds, etc.; oversight of laboratory equipment to ensure calibration and maintenance.
  • Examines and enters records into the VA Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS); archives ICF/HIPAA/Pharmacy IP records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
