Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, this position collaborates with Customer Technical Support and Information Security to assist with Windows/MacOS desktop, device management, and faculty, staff, and computer labs. Oversees daily system monitoring, verifies the integrity and availability of all software/hardware, server resources, and systems; reviews pertinent system and application logs, and verifies the completion of scheduled processes.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Apple Device Management (JAMF) Pro Suite to improve UTHSC’s operating systems and software applications and manage Windows and MacOS devices.
Deploys operating systems, software applications, software updates, and security patches.
Monitors all systems, applications, updates, and patches; verifies completion of automation and scheduled processes.
Maintains a schedule for operating systems and security patches.
Develops and maintains documentation of the packaging, deployment, configuration, and support of endpoint operating system and application software.
Maintains technical documentation regarding endpoint configuration and change management
Reviews reports for vulnerabilities and remediations, applies remediations to unpatched systems, and notifies manager if patches are needed for vulnerable systems.
Informs peers and managers of trends, complex and unexpected problems, and new information pertaining to the software used by the University.
Performs Forensic Investigations in Incident response.
Tracks industry Cyber Security standards to compare to applications in the environment
Suggests SCCM and JAMF Pro Suite architectural design updates and configuration modifications to enhance security and efficiency.
Ensures the university remains compliant with software licensing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)



EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of demonstrable pertinent experience; OR Associate’s Degree in a technology related discipline, seven (7) years of demonstrable pertinent experience; OR a combination of related college coursework and work experience to equal (11) years.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of mainstream Windows and MacOS computing platforms.
Knowledge of SCCM client management as well as other deployment, packaging, and systems management technologies, such as JAMF Pro Suite, group policy and WSUS.
Working knowledge of configuration and change management procedures and documentation requirements
Understanding of databases
Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills.
Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to develop and maintain procedures, documentation, and guides.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Powershell, bash, and unix command line.
Ability to correlate malicious events with users’ machines for remediation.
Knowledge of how to locate and audit system logs between multiple operating system platforms and iterations.
Ability to work in a high-paced environment that is hybrid as business needs change.
