Job Description

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant II to join the Infusion department. The ideal candidate will collaborate with nurses on infusion patients and notify them of pertinent information, show compassion and care with patients, while delivering the utmost in customer service.

Job Duties

  • Reviews the daily schedule for patient arrivals and escorts the patient into the infusion suite.
  • Takes vitals and asks any other pertinent questions related to care plans.
  • Disinfects each infusion chair and equipment for turnover for the next patient.  
  • Attends to patient needs, such as offering snacks, drinks, warm blankets and other comfort measures during their treatment, as well as assisting patients around the infusion suite as needed.  
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients.  
  • Collaborates with pharmacy personnel and nurses to retrieve medications. 
  • Administers injections for infusion patients according to physician order and protocols.  
  • Assists with scheduling appointments or return appointments for patients.  
  • Assists with inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Documents pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record. 
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, or NRMA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
