Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Department of Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness is accepting applications for its Institutional Research Analyst position.
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, or a related field.
Minimum Required Experience
Minimum three years of similar or related experience/training.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
An advanced degree with higher education experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience working with large scale data to support the reporting requirements for the University.
Documented ability to develop and utilize visualization tools and software to report institutional data (R, Tableau, and Power BI).
Evidence of advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), statistical tools, and departmental website.
Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses utilizing SPSS, SAS, Oracle SQL or Microsoft Advanced Excel.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the organization, maintenance, documentation, and updates of institutional data files.
Meets all reporting deadlines, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of data submitted to internal and external constituents.
Creates new programs and queries to retrieve institutional data and perform required analysis.
Develops and implements data visualization tools and software (Power BI, Tableau) to report institutional data.
Responds to all external and internal requests for institutional information.
Maintains departmental website.
Supports university and external testing as required..
Adheres to JSU and IHL policies, procedures, and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
