University of Leeds

Leeds, United Kingdom

Job posting number: #7116490 (Ref:MHIHS1341)

Job Description

As Senior Research Fellow, you will carry out research, teaching and management within the school, faculty and university to contribute to academic leadership in the field of health economics. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in applying modern predictive and econometric methods to leverage biomarkers and electronic health records for informing treatment decisions in routine practice.

The main activities of the post holder will be to lead and grow our portfolio of applied and methodology research focused on the use of biomarkers to predict health and economic outcomes and behaviours and enrich health econometric evaluation. The role will be developed as part of the expanding remit of the Leeds Biomedical Research Centre within and beyond its original Musculoskeletal Disease area of research translation. In particular, the post represents an exciting opportunity for developing the emerging field of health economics and genetic epidemiology. This will involve developing grant proposals, managing and leading projects, undertaking data analyses, preparing reports and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.

The AUHE has a portfolio of over 70 funded projects including applied and methodological work spanning economic evaluations, econometric and health outcomes and valuation research. We have close links with the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) and The Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research (LICTR) which offer great opportunities for collaboration. We are closely affiliated with the NIHR Leeds In Vitro Diagnostics and Surgical MedTech Co-operatives, through which there are opportunities to collaborate with academic, clinical and industry partners. Whilst not limited to this area, we particularly encourage applications from those with interests in decision modelling.
