Job Description

Summary

Pediatric Disaster Network (G7-PDN) is a federally funded consortium that aims to ensure the states of the gulf coast can comprehensively respond to disaster events impacting child health, expanding capabilities by leveraging existing efforts while developing and disseminating disaster preparedness and response best practices, regionally.  The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) funds three Pediatric Disaster Care Centers of Excellence (COE), with Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine leading one of these, G7-PDN; a consortium of experts from across the Gulf coast, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Puerto Rico. The Research Operations Associate will work with other grant program managers throughout the grant region to facilitate grant workplan deliverables. 
 

Job Duties

  • Assist Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital's Site PI with implementation of this grant and serve as the program manager for the Informatics & Technology domain.
  • Track progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals.
  • Draft compelling progress reports and targeted program updates (e.g. blog posts, press releases, FB and twitter posts) to funders that fully capture programmatic success.
  • Assemble all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submit reports to ASPR. 
  • Support data collection from EMS/transport agencies, hospitals, coalitions, and key stakeholders for G7-PDN projects utilizing online tools.
  • Affect improvements in pediatric disaster preparedness by collaborating with local, regional, state and federal governmental organizations.
  • Identify and prioritize initiatives to improve pediatric disaster preparedness within the region utilizing data and model programs developed by other COE’s and programs.
  • Out of state travel required quarterly for up to 4 days at a time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, humanitarian affairs, emergency management or relevant field with at least 5 years experience.
  • Master’s degree in public health, humanitarian affairs, emergency management or relevant field. (Preferred). 
  • Experience with grant writing, manuscript preparation, meeting facilitation, project planning, web page design, and using quality improvement methodology (in health care preferred).
  • Familiarity with federal regulations around grant program management, procurement and logistics, and their application in public health settings.
