Job Description

Summary

Radiology is seeking an experienced bench scientist to assist in multiple biomedical projects in the Translational Imaging Group. The Translational Imaging Group is matrix-managed, and consists of 5 PI's who are all extramurally funded. The group currently holds 4 NIH grants and several Foundation and Industrial grants.

Job Duties

  • Manage all the TIGr animal colonies, consisting of several mouse strains over approximately 10 IACUC protocols.
  • Perform breeding, weaning, genotyping, identification marking, maintenance, and necropsies on animals in each of the colonies as needed per project requirements.
  • Perform biological assays on samples as directed by project PI's and leaders.
  • Perform microscopy and image analysis on samples as directed by project PI's and leaders.
  • Perform cell culture studies as needed for projects.
  • Provide data summaries, figures, and document parts as directed by PI's and project leaders to assist in the writing of manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Review manuscripts critically prior to submission as part of authorship requirements. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Seven years of postdoctoral  research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital core facilities is highly desirable.
  • A willingness to learn new techniques in support of projects is highly desirable.
  • Excellent sterile technique in all aspects of work is required.
