Sanford Burnham Prebys is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. 

We are recruiting Faculty with Research Interests and Training in Fundamental and Translational Immunology.  We emphasize fundamental biomedical research on disease pathogenesis and support for translating discoveries into small molecule and biologic therapeutics effective against human diseases. 

Positions are open at all career stages, from Assistant to Full Professor. We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals with cutting-edge training or a track record in Immunology relevant to Autoimmunity, Infectious Diseases and/or Cancer. 

The candidate will hold primary membership in the Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases Center that currently includes faculty expertise in T cell immunity, cytokines, acute and chronic inflammatory mechanisms, immune checkpoint receptors, and therapeutic drug development for autoimmune and infectious diseases, and cancer.

We also encourage applications from individuals with expertise in systems immunobiology applying both computational and experimental approaches and whose research and translational goals may further intersect with SBP faculty expertise in cancer, neurobiology, developmental biology, and regeneration and aging.  

Investigators with translational interests can utilize SBP’s drug development expertise in biologics and small molecule drug screening in the Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics.  SBP also maintains a comprehensive state-of the-art technical core facility support system with dedicated expert management.  The position will have the added benefit of participating in a number of collaborative scientific initiatives with other experts in the thriving San Diego immunology community at the La Jolla Institute, Scripps, Salk, and UCSD. SBP has a successful history that encourages faculty partnerships with biotech/pharma industry.

Required experience:

• Faculty positions require a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and an outstanding record of publications and research accomplishments relevant to the focus areas, specifically in the field of immunology.
