Job Description

Summary

The Department of Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine has an immediate opening for an experienced Histology Lab Technician. The ideal candidate has experience in a fast paced, team oriented academic atmosphere. The Dermatology Clinic is a state of the art facility that treats patients with skin conditions, performs Mohs Surgery on skin cancer patients, and performs cosmetic procedures.

Job Duties

  • Performs histological procedures on human issue in the Dermatology Clinic.
  • Performs histological preparations.
  • Ensures that laboratory equipment and supplies are clean and sterile, and maintains the cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Contributes to maintain CLIA lab standards each day and assists with preparation of biannual CLIA lab survey.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment as necessary to maintain a par level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate in Science degree in Histologic Technology.
  • Four years of directly related experience in a Mohs histology laboratory using Cryostats and embedding and marking tissue samples (preferably skin) or one year of frozen sectioning experience.
  • Certified Histology Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC).
