Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – PRN - McKinley Outpatient Center

Note: this position is PRN / 'on-call' and hours are either 6:00am - 2:30pm, or 11:30am - 8pm or when the last patient leaves the building).  Ideal candidate is a responsible professional who can help "open the building" daily at 6:00am and/or close when the last patient leaves the building (8 pm), depending on shift.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. This position provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

Based at our McKinley Outpatient Center, this position assists physicians with the evaluation, management and treatment of a wide spectrum of patients with different medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities within the building.

  • This position works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).
  • This position collaborates with the Infusion Provider on an ongoing basis. MKC Building provider is the Lead for the Rapid Response Team (RRT), along with the Infusion provider. Typically appropriate team members have actives role in committees, educating of staff and data extrapolation.
  • Prefer availability for flexibility for one or two days a week when needed, as a PRN APP.

Essential Functions:

-Responds to RRT's on the McKinley Outpatient Center campus.

-Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team in either the inpatient, outpatient, or in an urgent care setting. 

-Responds to adverse drug reactions and hyper sensitivities within the department. 

-Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.

-Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within scope of practice.

-Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within scope of practice.

-Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.

  • Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program, active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.

  • Active BLS and ACLS required. (must be AHA approved)

  • Experience in oncology or general internal medicine (hospital or emergency room setting preferred).
