Responsibilities*
Seat and prepare patients for treatment by positioning the patient to best utilize the concept of four handed dentistry while assisting dentist in preventing, examining, charting and treating diseases of the teeth and oral region to include the administration of anesthetics, set-up, maintain and anticipate the dentists needs for each procedure. Prepare and maintain the dental chair, unit and light. Inspect dental instruments for serviceability and prepare them for sterilization while following infection control guidelines.
Protect patient from excessive exposure to ionizing radiation, exposes, mounts bitewings, periapicals and panographic radiographs.
Prepares equipment and materials to measure and mix such commonly used permanent and non-permanent restorative materials such as cements, resins and alloys.
Assist dentist during implant surgical procedures, manages the patient preoperative and postoperatively while minimizing patient discomfort and anxiety.
Assists in training dental students and other assigned staff in the principles of dental assisting.
Required Qualifications*
A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program.
C.P.R. and radiography certification.
Excellent communication skills, excellent attention to detail, excellent ability to multitask, excellent organizational skills, and excellent attendance record.
