Zone Maintenance Technician
Position Highlights:
The Facilities Zone Maintenance performs minor maintenance, compliance, utility, and structural repairs throughout the assigned work zone within Moffitt Cancer Center's hospitals and clinics. The Zone Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repair to cover all trades including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry and associated systems in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency codes. This position will report directly to a Supervisor Facilities and may also receive direction from a department Facilities Lead position.
Responsibilities:
Ability to perform work in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and/or painting. Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned. Performs any work assignment in conjunction with the skill sets required of the job, not necessarily within craft line. Responds to emergency situations including disaster response, power, other utility loss, floods, etc. to limit effect to facility Performs inspections, maintenance and repair while providing a safe environment for patients, team members and visitors. Performs basic infection prevention procedures.
Ability to perform utility and structural repairs, alone or in collaboration with internal tradespersons.
Ability to document and maintain all work orders, inspections, and preventative maintenance pursuant to departmental policies
Reports failed equipment, major failures and equipment malfunctions, need for shutdowns and other concerns to department supervisor immediately upon discovery.
Ability to perform duties while communicating with staff, patients and guests. Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work in a stressful environment while maintaining appropriate composure.
Proper use of basic tools, machinery, ladders, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Credentials and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED
2 yrs work experience in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repair or HVAC
**Completion of a formal training program in building repair to include general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, maintenance repair or HVAC may substitute experience
**Military experience such as a Utilityman (UT), Bulder (BU), Machinists Mate (MM) or similar will be considered.
