Summary

The Foulds laboratory is a basic science/translational oncology research program, rich with individual expertise and collaborative studies, which focuses on generating new and optimizing current treatment strategies for patients across the breast cancer spectrum. In order to develop precision diagnostics, the Foulds lab is interested in delineating mechanisms of resistance to standard-of-care therapeutics and metastasis for mainly ER+ disease but now including triple-negative breast cancer with this applicant. The successful candidate is expected to develop and carry out an independent research project and work in collaboration with the bioinformatics and proteomics team in our collaborator (Dr. Bing Zhang) laboratory.

Job Duties

• Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
• Collects, compiles and analyzes data. 
• Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
• Documents results of experiments.
• Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
• Prepares project reports, scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, and abstracts, and present the research work in appropriate conferences or scientific meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with in vivo xenograft tumor mouse models is preferred.
• The applicant should have a strong record of achievements and publications, encompass the ability to work independently and in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment, and demonstrate excellent scientific communication and writing skills.
• Prior experience in cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, RT-qPCR, DNA purification, immunoblot, … etc) are required.
• Selected skill sets, including analysis of kinase function, immunoprecipitation, RNA sequencing, immunoblotting, cell culture and ex vivo culture, are preferred in the candidate.
• Working knowledge of molecular biology and cancer (patho)biology.
• The ideal candidate must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree with documented expertise in molecular and cellular biology.
• Must be a team player and work well within a group. Cross-training and transparency among the team is encouraged and practiced.
