Job Description

Summary

The lab is seeking a motivated and organized candidate to join a highly collaborative team as a lab supervisor. The duties include assisting the team by managing the inventory, orders, and equipment as well as ensuring that budgets are spent as planned. The lab supervisor will maintain records, regulatory documents, records for research studies, and reporting to funding agencies. He/she may assist with certain data analysis if necessary. The applicant be able to communicate effectively as this position requires interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate team-based research studies. He/she needs to take personal responsibility and accountability for correcting any problems. 

Job Duties

  • Manages the inventory that includes chemicals, antibodies, reagents, tools and ensures that all are in order.
  • Orders supplies,  gets invoices, and maintains a log of all.
  • Ensures the equipment is functional and that any needed repairs and calibrations are done on time.
  • Maintains records of lab events (lab meeting, journal club) and regulatory documents for IACUC protocols.
  • Maintains records for research studies for reporting to funding agencies. 
  • Ensures that budgets are spent as planned. 
  • Assists with certain data analysis if necessary (eg. stereology, confocal imaging data).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be able to communicate effectively.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate team-based research studies.
