Summary

Full time registered nurse who is interested in establishing or continuing a career in clinical research. Our clinical trials focus on treatments and/or vaccines for combatting infectious diseases. 
 
The ideal candidate will be self-directed, have excellent communication skills, excellent organizational skills, strong attention to details, self-directed, organized, and flexible.  Is also a team player with good interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality and safe participant care and customer service. 
• Adheres to the scope of practices as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. 
• Recruits, screens, enrolls, and evaluates study participants for focused research trials. 
• Schedules study visits and study-related meetings. 
• Collects study specimens and checks participant vital signs. 
• Administers study products for research studies. 
• Follows participant progress and advises investigator on status. 
• Collects study-related data and enters the data into an online database.
• Maintains research charts and medical records, as applicable. 
• Performs quality assurance activities, as needed.
• Understands assigned research trials with complete familiarity of the protocol, manual of procedures, FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, standard operating procedures, and other established guidelines.
• Primary contact for assigned research trials for Sponsors, Sponsor agents, research team members, data coordinating center, federal agencies, and study participants. 
• Educates study participants to the objectives and requirements for IRB-approved research protocols.
• Collaborates with regulatory, laboratory, pharmacy, and quality management personnel to ensure that processes and procedures are compliant with established guidelines and to rectify discrepancies, as needed.
• Explains study processes and procedures to study participants including informed consent and eligibility requirements.
• Tracks compliance of participants with study requirements and implements resolution measures when non-compliance is observed.
• Communicates research information to the PI, the clinic manager and others as required. 
• Maintains research clinic cleanliness and a safe work environment. 
• Stocks and orders supplies.
• Collaborates with clinical research associates for monitoring of study-related material. 
• Assists study PI with IRB submissions and ongoing communication with the IRB. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). 
• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
