Job Description
The HR Team Lead works within a shared services model to provide exceptional HR support to the Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Directorate at Argonne National Laboratory. They will be instrumental in ensuring efficient, effective, and seamless HR support for PSE. The HR Team Lead sits in a matrixed environment, reporting directly to the Directorate Operations Officer and indirectly to the Human Resources Manager. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for an assigned client group and management of 3 direct reports. A successful candidate will be energetic, customer service oriented, and an advocate for utilizing HR technology to improve processes.
Primary responsibilities include:
Manages a service-oriented HR support team through effective selection, training/development, and team building
Fosters teamwork and a positive work environment through frequent collaboration with colleagues at the lab
Identifies and recommends process improvement opportunities and participates in implementation and documentation of process enhancements
Partners with HRM and DOO in goals and objectives setting for the HR Support Team. Tracks and reports progress towards those goals and objectives
Provides support to hiring managers in all aspects of the hiring process including facilitating and guiding the interview process in partnership with the hiring manager, group administrative assistant and Talent Acquisition representative
Coordinates actions with the Argonne Immigration Office as necessary and assist directorate employees through related processes
Maintains physical and electronic records in accordance with lab policy
Processes employee changes in the Workday HR system
Communicates relevant and timely HR messages to assigned divisions
Meets with line managers and division directors' when required.
May assist with HR Manager to process promotions and salary adjustments within assigned divisions
Assists in the Performance Appraisal Process within assigned divisions
Assists in the merit and bonus review within assigned divisions
Participates in special projects related to HR for PSE as assigned
Position Requirements
Direct experience leading a team preferred, however, other project or demonstrated leadership activity may be considered
Knowledge of HR practices and administration including applicable employment laws
Ability to interpret and implement Argonne’s Human Resources, Laboratory and Division policies and procedures
Considerable ability to handle a variety of sensitive information and human resources matters
High level of accuracy and the ability to pay attention to detail, solve problems and set priorities
Experience processing education related appointments and hiring foreign nationals preferred
Oral and written communications skills and the ability to work with internal and external contacts to achieve goals
Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively, using tact and discretion and in developing interpersonal relationships and handling conflicts
Knowledge of Workday or similar HRIS preferred
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook and Excel
PA4: Bachelor’s and 6+ years, some occupations may require graduate degree and 4+ years of experience or equivalent
