This Administrative Specialist position will pay a starting rate of $17.69/hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. This position is full-time, working 8:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday – Friday and is located on our Portland Campus.

The successful candidate should be cooperative, dependable, and able to work well with others, both staff and faculty in a diverse department, as well as throughout the University. This position will interact with students, faculty, and the general public, requiring the willingness to be helpful and patient while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in all circumstances.

Additional job duties and responsibilities include:

Maintaining attention to detail.
Providing customer service that often requires researching a question and responding to that request in a timely manner.
Managing and completing projects with varied deadlines.
The ability to triage work and deadlines.
Ensuring tasks are complete and deadlines are met.
Anticipate additional tasks or problems that might need attention.
Managing an office for a department that generates the highest number of student credits hours in the College.
The successful candidate should have a high level of competency in Microsoft Office. In addition, the successful candidate would need to get familiar with various software applications and administrative software tools the University utilizes. These software applications include, but are not limited to, the MaineStreet database (student records and other academic records, department budgets and purchasing, MaineStreet Queries for analytic assessments, Course Scheduler, Contract Generator, Word Press, SmartSheet, Concur, and eCampus.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Two years of administrative support or comparable experience
Ability to work well with many people at all levels
Computer proficiency (ex. MS Office, Google suite, web)
