Job Description


The lab of Dr. Jeff Rosen research is based upon the philosophy that it is necessary to first define the mechanisms of regulating normal mammary gland development to understand the alterations in breast cancer.  Specifically, have been interested in characterizing the role of Wnt and Fgf family members in normal mammary gland development and stem cell self-renewal, and the properties of tumor initiating cells including the mechanisms of resistance to standard of care therapies. The lab has long history of developing syngeneic preclinical genetically engineered models of triple negative breast cancer that have been extensively characterized using different omics platforms and more recently with respect to their immune microenvironments. These models are being used to study critical questions of tumor heterogeneity, dormancy and recurrence with a focus on the treatment of metastatic triple negative breast cancer. The technician will be required to conduct experimental research lab work and assist in the design of one or more specific phases of entire projects. Weekend hours may be required occasionally.

Job Duties

  • Works on surgery, daily oral gavage and other treatments.
  • Measures tumor growth and harvests tumors for further analysis.
  • Conducts breeding, weaning, tail cutting, and DNA preparation for the project, and will devote 100% effort to this project. 
  • Conducts experimental research lab work and assists in the design of one or more specific phases of entire projects. 
  • Follows overall research objectives and protocols to design, set-up, conduct, and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Evaluates protocols and data obtained from experiments and recommends changes to processes, procedures, and techniques to improve the quality and validity of results based on project objectives.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Performs duties that will require to work with research mice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology.
  • Experience working in a laboratory and interested in pursuing graduate studies. 
  • Be highly motivated, well organized, manage time effectively, and have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team with the possibility of co-authorship on publications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols.
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn new technologies and has manual dexterity.
  • Demonstrates computer skills, that includes spreadsheets and basic computations.
