Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The position provides support to the Data Management and Statistical (DMS) Core of the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, uploading data to the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center's repository, managing the data entry query resolution process, REDCap survey design, maintaining data dictionaries and standard operating procedures, providing staff training and maintaining training materials on database system usage, managing access to the all databases across the program, and assisting the DMS Core Manager with the preparation of data freezes.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the IT team in the design, development, build, and maintenance of database systems and environments to ensure data security and integrity. Helps develop related policy, procedures, and training.
25% Assists in the development of data architectures and database management policies and standards
15% Assists in the identification and resolution of data issues and upholds database-use guidelines
5% Assists in the installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, restoration, and performance-tuning of databases
5% Implements routine security measures to safeguard digital information
10% Monitors and analyzes database audit tables and logs and provides routine data warehousing support and data extraction
20% Assists in identifying, developing, and facilitating unit staff training opportunities in the effective utilization of databases
20% Creates and maintains programming scripts for extracting data from the local database and uploading data to the national database

EDUCATION:
Preferred
Associate's Degree
Preferred candidate will have a background in computer science, informatics, data management, mathematics, library science or statistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with SQL, R, Python or a similar programming language required. At least one year of experience with data management or database administration preferred. Experience working with HIPAA and knowledge of data security best practices also preferred. Experience working in a research environment preferred.

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
