Summary

Dr. James Moon's laboratory is searching for Senior Research Lab Specialist Associate with expertise in flow cytometry and immunology. The Moon Lab in the College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Michigan is developing new immunotherapies and vaccines at the interface of immunology and engineering. We design new drug delivery systems for improving immune functions in the context of cancer, autoimmune disease, and microbial infection. Our translational immunoengineering research aims to develop new drugs for improving immune functions.

We are seeking a highly motivated senior research lab specialist who can design and execute flow cytometry-based experiments; perform data analysis; conduct analyses and experiments focused on immunological assays, and to investigate their applications in immunotherapy using in vitro and in vivo models; and assist with regulatory compliance and training of new laboratory members. The candidate will work with interdiscplinary team in a laboratory located at the North Campus Research Complex. The candidate will conduct experiments focused on immunological assays, including flow cytometry, and perform data analysis. The candidate will work with in vitro and in vivo model systems and assist with regulatory compliance and training of new laboratory members.

Responsibilities*

70% - Animal studies examining immunological properties of immunotherapies. This includes murine experiments with tumor cells, immune cells, and nanomaterials, troubleshooting/optimizing in vivo treatment conditions, and subsequent analysis of tumor cells and immune cells, using flow cytometery, whole animal imaging, confocal microscopy, and histopathology.
20% - Cell culture work with tumor cells and immune cells; conducts analysis and experiments on cancer cells and immune cells. This includes experimental design, troubleshooting/optimization activation of cells using synthetic inorganic/organic materials, and analyzing immune signatures using confocal microscopy.
10% - Training other lab members. Mentors and train new and junior colleagues.
Required Qualifications*

Master's degree or specific professional/Doctorate degree preferred.
5 to 6 years related experience.
Supervisory and financial management experience required
Previous laboratory experience with flow cytometry, immunological assays, and animal research & studies
Desired Qualifications*

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or related fields
