Position Summary

Responsible for the safe and timely transfer and positioning of patients within periop, the transport and set up of supplies and equipment, the transport of specimens and items, within the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center. Patients will be transported within periop, within the CC and also to discharge areas. Will assist in other departmental functions/duties as needed or directed to assure safe, effective, efficient, and speedy patient care.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Transports patients (gurney, wheelchair and ambulette) to and from nursing units, ancillary departments, and to discharge as requested.
  • Assists personnel in moving patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs, etc. and positioning patients under the direction of nurses or physicians.
  • Transports supplies, medical records, x-rays, equipment, specimens, mail, reports, and other materials, in response to instruction, direction, or page.
  • Maintains inventory supplies levels on patient/nursing units. Plays an active role in supply inventory, restocking and gathering supplies and equipment.
  • Transports full, empty, and used medical gas cylinders, making sure the appropriate tank is placed in the appropriate place.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

Minimum Education: High School or equivalent; Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

Minimum Experience: One year in a similar position or aide position with similar experience and background in a perioperative setting.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • CPR Training/Certificate or obtained within two weeks of hire
  • Current Driver’s license

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Understands basic sterile techniques, aseptic technique and clean processes. Understands basic medical terminology.

Pay Rate: $20.50 - $26.79 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
