ROLE SUMMARY

The Breakthrough Fellowship Program, first-of-its-kind, works to advance students with demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity, equity and inclusion for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans at Pfizer, in particular growing the pipeline of Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans at Pfizer. The program has a goal of developing 100 fellows by 2025.

Successful Fellows will participate in all five components of the program:

1. An initial 10-week summer internship for rising undergraduate college seniors

2. 2 years of full-time employment after Undergraduate graduation

3. After 2 years, a fully paid scholarship to complete a full-time, 2-year MBA, MPH or MS Statistics program

4. Summer internship between the first and second years of the MBA / MPH or MS Statistics program

5. Return to Pfizer for employment post program graduation

Applicants are for this Breakthrough Fellowship Program 10-week internship for the roles in our Global Business Solutions group and intend to pursue their Master of Business Administration degree (MBA), Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or MS Statistics consistent with the time requirements of the program.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

We have 3 Global Business Solutions (GBS) openings this year to join the Breakthrough Fellowship Program (BFP) and start in the initial component, 10-week summer internship:

GBS S&ES Enterprise Services – Vendor Operations (PfizerWorks) Internship
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the vendor governance process with PfizerWorks suppliers in the vendor management tool (MyServicePartner).
  • Measurement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) monthly/quarterly.
  • Identifying and communication any risk infractions by supplier and support remediation plans.
  • Participate in vendor quarterly business reviews.
  • In partnership with PfizerWorks Operations peers, support the service delivery for shared service platform consisting of 12 core services delivered by 9 vendors and approximately 800 +/- FTEs.
  • Work in close partnership with PfizerWorks Customer Facing Account Directors to ensure a successful customer experience, value delivery, and new service development and deployment.
  • Help support the roll-out of PfizerWorks new Portal reporting tool.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc requests on as needed basis.

GBS Colleagues Services – Colleague Services Solutions Internship

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operationally support the management of ongoing projects across the Colleague Solutions portfolio, including Workday, Service Now and recruiting related platforms
  • Present project updates and results to leadership
  • Utilize project management experience to ensure successful implementation against established plans
  • Participate in the monitoring, intake & solutioning of Workday process design inquiries
  • Participate in the monitoring, intake & solutioning of Workday process design inquiries
  • Identify and communicate issues and be proactive in determining impact and proposed resolution
  • Participate in special projects, including M&A activities, as needed
  • Participate in budgeting activities
  • Plan & lead team building events within teams
  • Performs analytical work within the assigned functional area

GBS Financial Services – Global Record to Report Internship

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with Pfizer accounting policies and US GAAP
  • Perform daily activities surrounding teams’ assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist in the maintenance of domestic and/or international ledgers including the preparation of related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Participate in month end financial close activities for various legal entities
  • Assist in the maintenance of complete and accurate standard operating procedures, process metrics, and SOX related internal control documentation
  • Prepare financial and accounting analysis involving complex transactions
  • Effectively communicate observations, analysis, and recommendations with GBS colleagues, front-line managers, and senior leadership
  • Identify and communicate issues and be proactive in determining impact and proposed resolution
  • Develop and assist in automating accounting processes, analysis techniques and reporting functionality
  • Develop and maintain relationships with groups serviced by GBS – Global Record to Report

In addition to the above responsibilities, interns will also participate in the following:

  • Research focused project owned by Summer Internship colleagues
  • Presentation of project and findings to site and function senior leadership team

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be an undergraduate student enrolled in a full-time university program (an accredited college / university degree program at the time of award) and graduate Winter 2023 or Spring 2024
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Min GPA 3.0
  • Committed interest & intent to pursue an MBA, MPH or MS Statistics graduate degree
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity, equity and inclusion for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans at Pfizer, in particular growing the pipeline of Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans at Pfizer
  • Submit a brief written statement (no more than 500 words) explaining how you have worked to advance diversity, equity and inclusion for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans, and how you will use your background or experiences to help Pfizer grow the pipeline for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans at Pfizer
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership potential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational and professional development
  • Strong organizational skills required to coordinate with business partners both in and out of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
  • Ability to operate independently and remain focused on assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Strong initiative and self-motivator
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrated high learning agility, “team player” mentality, positive attitude and poise under pressure
