Position Description
The Brugge lab has a long-standing interest in studying breast cancer using innovative techniques, with the ultimate goal to help improve treatment strategies for patients. We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join our team. As a research assistant, you will be working on projects that investigate the mechanisms of breast cancer initiation and progression using advanced mouse models and organoid culture systems, under the direct supervision and mentorship of a senior postdoctoral fellow. Former technicians in the lab have successfully moved on to MD and/or PhD programs as well as industry positions.

Responsibilities will be:
  • Flow cytometry and FACS cell sorting
  • Mouse husbandry, genotyping, tumorigenesis experiments, dissection
  • Cell and organoid cultures derived from mouse models and human samples
  • Cell and tissue immunostaining, microscopy, image analysis
  • Molecular biology, e.g. plasmid cloning, gene expression and knockdown, qRT-PCR, western blots
  • Maintaining accurate, and detailed record of experimental results
Basic Qualifications
College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline (at least one-year of related work experience - relevant course work may count towards experience).
 
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a research laboratory setting is strongly preferred.
  • Willing to make a two-year commitment dependent on renewal of position after 1-year term.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: mouse handling, cell culture, and microscopy.
  • Highly motivated, have a good work ethic, and able to work independently and as a team.
  • Follow protocols with attention to detail.
  • Produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Think creatively to solve problems.
  • Excellent skills in communication, organization, and time management.
Additional Information
This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position. 

Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.

This is an in-person position based on our campus in Boston.
