What you'll do:

  • Independently maintain mammalian cell cultures, especially immune cells
  • Collaborate with senior staff to develop/synthesize novel biomaterials for drug delivery
  • Execute cell based biological experiments independently with guidance from senior staff
  • Perform and analyze in-vitro and in-vivo drug release profiles
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in cell culture techniques
  • Maintain tissue culture facilities, including daily maintenance of tissue culture equipment such as hoods, incubators, and water baths
  • Order supplies/consumables and maintain shared stocks
  • Accurately and thoroughly document experimental observations and protocols and write/update standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others
Basic Qualifications

What you'll need: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field required.
  • 2 or more years of experience in aseptic mammalian cell culture required including endpoint analysis (ELISA, qPCR, western, or imaging), drug delivery design and characterization and material characterization (HPLC, Rheology, DLS, and NMR). Advanced education may count towards years of experience.
Working Conditions

This position will be based on our campus in Boston, MA and will require on-campus presence. Subject to business needs, the Wyss Institute generally supports flexible work arrangements.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering with experience in biomaterials synthesis molecular biology, Immunology and professional industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft software packages is essential
  • Experience working in chemical and BSL2 biological laboratory environments is essential
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to aid in interaction with multidisciplinary groups of biologists, chemists, engineers and technology innovators.
  • Team leadership experience
  • Familiarity with standard lab safety is essential.
  • Experience as a contributing team member is essential
Additional Information

This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal.
