Description of Work Unit
It is the mission of this department to provide safe, efficient multi-modal access to campus and manage parking resources to support campus activities and enhance life in the university community. The department is a self-funded auxiliary department of Colorado State University that supports all maintenance and operations as they relate to transportation services on campus.

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Position Summary
This position is responsible for system integration, system operability and contract service relationships to ensure network integrity and ongoing day-to-day operations. Management of computers, servers, software, hardware, and user support. Manage and revise policies and procedures to inventory, maintain, order, and replace hardware and or software. Develop and oversee robust risk management planning to identify and remediate risk to include scheduled routine maintenance, updates, and tests to assess network connectivity. Demonstrated software and hardware utilization; diagnosing, analyzing, resolving, documenting, installing and updating hardware and software.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3 years related work experience in advanced systems programming, system integration, data communications, maintenance and installation;
OR
High School Diploma (or GED) plus appropriate work experience within the information technology field, to substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis; training and certifications related to the work assigned to the position will also be considered as a substitution for the required experience and/or degree.

Work experience in hardware and software installation, maintenance, repair, as well as providing exceptional user support.
Experience maintaining VMware, HyperV, Windows 10/11, Server 2016 and higher infrastructure.
Aptitude building and maintaining vendor relationships to identify software and hardware functionality and solutions
Evidence of experience working effectively in a team environment, as well as autonomously
Strong knowledge of data exchange between differing vendor systems (e.g., API, SSH, SFTP) and understanding of data security and encryption.
Experience and working knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, Zoom.
Supervisory experience
Preferred Job Qualifications
Adept with SQL and Oracle databases with ability to write complex queries for reporting purposes.
Programming application, data science, machine learning and A.I. knowledge.
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Managing, validating, and maintaining integrity of data warehouse.
Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform applications.
Experience working with institutions of higher education
Experience working with geographical information systems (GIS)
Experience working with License Plate Recognition (LPR)
Substantial organizational and complex problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Essential Duties
Job Duty Category System Administration
Duty/Responsibility
Serve as subject matter expert for department applications and systems.
Oversee all parking and transportation technology systems.
Install, configure, maintain, replace, troubleshoot, support and document server hardware and software.
Use service and maintenance tools for automating and configuring Windows operating systems and virtual servers.
Recommend, test and implement systems/software upgrades or enhancements following industry standards.
Review, maintain and recommend solutions to security risks as identified by outside entities, trade journals or internal review.
Create robust contingency and recovery plans to ensure data transfer, integrity and system interfaces are operable.
Work collaboratively with department to ensure system specifications are set up to support data extraction and identify opportunities to improve usage of existing technology to drive efficiency.
Develop and oversee team regarding procedures, routine maintenance schedules, and checklist to monitor data transfer, reporting and communication.
Ensure data integrity and database compliance regarding shared access and security policies.
Provide oversight to team regarding responsibilities and utilization of testing database to advance existing reports and dashboards with recommendations for how to utilize resources and automate reporting.
Develop procedures to utilize testing database to advance existing technology.

Research and recommend alternative tools and new technologies that provide desirable functionality with high value for the department.
Identify opportunities around existing university software to align usage to improve customer experience and office efficiencies, utilization of ETL, FTP and APIs to securely transfer data and automate processes.
Research, identify, recommend, design, install and integrate new enhancements.
Stay current on IT security and compliance to recommend, identify and initiate improvements.
Document designs, tool usage, infrastructure and support solutions.
Plan, review and monitor wide range of internal and external systems to ensure best use of functionality and minimal risk to network interruption.
Build contracts with third party service vendors to drive higher productivity and balance available resources to maximize results.

Duty/Responsibility
Supervise IT team.
Support installation, configuration and maintenance of software and computer hardware (workstations, printers, scanner, etc).
Oversee and delegate to ensure appropriate training and training schedules are in place for security and software applications (new and existing).
Work with staff to determine requirements and associated training to provide technical support.
Develop procedures, processes, trainings and support schedules for infrastructure and compliance with university standards.
Troubleshoot basic network connectivity to the LAN.
Support operations and vendors to ensure system connectivity to support the university, operations and customer way-finding on campus.
Provide coaching and development to IT administrative personnel through regular communication, job performance review and training.
Establish performance goals and complete performance evaluations per university policy.
Responsible for all related IT activities, procedures and results.
