Job Summary
Perform a variety of routine and complex technical duties involved in conducting specialized tests such as biological, biochemical, serological, hematological, urological and clinical tests in support of research initiatives. Responsible for accuracy of results and re-testing when appropriate.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Review and have knowledge of all studies' lab requirements. Pull and prepare central lab kits for each study coordinator for the following week (includes administrative work - filling out paperwork,scheduling express pick up, etc.). Maintain accurate documentation of each lab processed and shipped.
  • Process specimens and prepare for either ambient shipping or stored in freezer for shipment on dry ice another day. Send detailed information to billing regarding how and which study dry ice should be charged to. Maintain accurate documentation of daily freezer logs, etc.
  • Order new lab kits as well as shipping materials and properly destroy all expired kits or when study closes. Document these processes and maintain records in box. Maintain CITI, IATA, BioSafety and BloodBorne Pathogens certifications.
  • Retrieve and deliver tissue blocks (to/from pathology and Histology Core, outsides labs) as determined by study. Prepare study slides from these blocks and ship to sponsor per study guidelines. Answer sponsor lab queries in lab EDC.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Preferred experience in performing laboratory duties.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented; Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Grade: 5
Salary: $15.00
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
