College/Department Information
The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy is dedicated to understanding cellular function through state-of-the art research in areas such as autophagy and apoptosis, bone metabolism, developmental biology, molecular motors, dysphagia/swallowing disorders, exosome biology, renal disease, stem cell research, vision science (retina and cornea), and cell wounding. We are dedicated to conveying new knowledge to future scientists and educating the next generation of scientists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals. Job Summary
Performs advanced administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in an assigned laboratory or clinical research unit. Participates in research data collection and documentation within FDA guidelines and research institute protocols; develops and evaluates new research techniques and procedures. Performs a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytological, microscopic, histological, surgical, clinical, and/or dissection procedures.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Experiments: Research scientific literature regarding current understanding of experimental paradigms; conduct experiments, analyze results, and summarize findings; prepare finding for presentations at national and international meetings, publications, and grants.
Administrative: Coordinate research activities and procedures of staff, graduate, and summer students by continuous discussion amongst all lab members. Participate in project planning and development of research protocols; develop and evaluate new techniques and procedures. Techniques/Procedures: Advise Principal Investigators, post-doctoral fellows, students and technicians in research techniques and procedures; assist trainees and other technicians with analysis of project data. Compliance: Ensure compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to use of biohazardous materials (Biological safety), chemicals (chemical safety), anesthetic drugs (DEA;IACUC), and experimental animals (LAS; IACUC); oversee use of materials, equipment, etc. Ordering/Equipment Maintenance: Order supplies and equipment; maintain and trouble shoot equipment; maintain chemical and equipment inventories. Mouse Lines: Perform a variety of genetic, genomic, and cell biological experiments to study Eye research, maintain mouse lines for eye research. Protocols: Maintenance and upkeep research protocols for mouse research. Other: Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in vision research.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records, and make independent decisions.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required) Pay Grade: R14Salary: $36,197-$50,000 Annually.Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
