Job Description

Summary

Specific projects will involve studying: patterns of healthcare utilization among older adults; the experiences of older adults and their caregivers/family members when seeking emergency care; the emergency care of older patients with various chronic conditions such as dementia, delirium, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive lung disease; healthcare providers' perspectives on implementing geriatric care improvements in emergency medicine. Some of the research will focus on promoting health equity and social justice in routine emergency care. The position may involve investigations in other related topics.

Job Duties

  • Contribute to all aspects of qualitative and mixed methods research portfolio, including, but not limited to, protocol development; literature review and synthesis, sample design and management; design and implementation of recruitment and field procedures: collection, coding, analysis and synthesis of data, focus group moderation, preparation of project reports, project deliverables, manuscripts and grant/contract proposals.
  • Contribute to the development of surveys, semi-structured interviews, and other data collection tools used to collect and analyze qualitative and mixed methods health services research data.
  • Conduct qualitative data collection, including interviews with patients, providers and staff, focus groups, and ethnographic observation. Proficiency in Spanish is ideal but not required for this position.
  • Prepare presentations of research findings including as posters, powerpoint slides, visual/graphic abstracts.
  • Coordinating meetings between members of the research team.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
