Position Summary

City of Hope IT vision - In support of the mission of the COH organization, the IT organization has created a vision to empower the COH System to innovate with speed and agility, serving as the trusted technology partner to advance clinical care and research. The System Vice President, IT Regional Support and Business Relationship Services will directly impact our key foundational aim to be integrally close to, and in tune with, the business at the enterprise, functional, and unit levels engaging on strategies, goals, challenges, and needs.

The IT Systems Vice President, IT Regional and Business Relationship Management Services will be responsible providing products and services to the City of Hope regions (presently defined by COH Leadership as Los Angeles, Orange County, Arizona, Chicago and Atlanta) and support Business Shared Services (Research, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Philanthropy, Patient Access, etc.) with a business relationship leader.

Key Responsibilities include:

The Regional IT organization primarily supports Care Delivery services within the regions and is a consulting and delivery group responsible for regional implementation of projects, working with local business partners to strategize, design, and implement local applications and technologies while taking responsibility for managing variation, reducing total cost of ownership, and advancing the business objectives and models as defined at the regional level. The Regional Leadership team serves as primary point of engagement across all IT portfolios and IT/Training and Informatics services delivery, partners with enterprise and shared services at the local level as needed and establishes and delivers the value of IT programs with appropriate balance between standardization and customization in the most optimal way. This role is accountable for understanding, promoting, and supporting the regional business partners strategic direction and priorities and enabling alignment between regional and enterprise priorities and vice versa. The regional VP and IT Regional Leadership is expected to operate as a strategic business partner with members of the regional leadership team on all issues (not restricted to the area of IT). In addition, the regional IT leaders are expected to provide regional input into the IT strategic plan and be a thought leader by appropriately influencing enterprise solutions.

The Business Relationship Management Services, in support of shared services, drives trust, creativity, innovation, authenticity, and shared ownership across the shared services organization. The capability converges cross-functional teams to create holistic strategies that deliver organizational value and meaningful results. The Business relationship management function is led by an IT BRM leader with BRM that are single contributors at the system level. The Business Relationship Management Services performs similar duties to the Regional team but for core central service functions within the organization to include: Research, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Patient Access, Philanthropy, and others. The BRM function is responsible for providing direct support to customers in cataloguing ideas, requests, coordinating issue/problem resolution, and communicating effectively to the business and IT counterparts. The BRM function may also support other Digital Vertical leaders as needed.

The System VP, Regional and Business Relationship Services will be accountable for delivery of the business management services to the customers, obtaining feedback and measuring the value of the services through key metrics. Key areas will include overall perception of IT, improvement in collaboration on partnership, streamlining processes, reducing friction in resolving issues, and delivering services in a timely manner, In all cases, the business relationship leaders assigned to customer executives will be considered part of the customer executive team to ensure understanding of the customer priorities and navigate across the IT organization to ensure appropriate services levels are achieved.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership to the regional executives for local IT service delivery based on tiered models.
  • Responsible for the development of new service strategies and service models to meet the needs of the business and clinical operations.
  • Maintains an understanding of the strategic priorities across COH regions and collaborates with other leaders in IT, and the Digital Vertical as needed to support the execution of those strategies.
  • Lead and maintain the design and delivery of the regional and BRM support models, to include tiered support models, leveraging best practice to include adoption of ITSM standards for business relationship management and certifications in BRMI for leaders and team members.
  • Provides leadership to the regional IT executives leveraging a shared leadership model with the Regional Operations executive through join goal development, performance evaluations, and development plans.
  • Develop and implement a shared leadership model for regional teams based on services provided ensuring a dual reporting relationship exists within the IT central services leaders to maintain competency.
  • Provides leadership to the Business Relationship management team for core shared services ensuring a strong partnership with the business executives increasing.
  • Lead people management activities to drive workforce engagement and development.
  • Responsible for oversight of development of tiered services programs as it relates to the needs of a specific region. Works collaboratively with the Enterprise IT leadership in packaging and pricing services.
  • Directs and provides primary accountability for all IT service delivery within an entity or larger region of entities. Oversees and manages IS Directors in delivery of all TIS Services. Responsible for development of new service strategies and service models to meet information technology needs supporting business and clinical operations. Works extensively with the entity/BSS Executive and management teams to ensure IT plans are customer focused and provide value added services. Responsible and accountable to ensure all TIS service commitments are met.
  • COMPLIANCE AND INTEGRITY:
  • Models and reinforces ethical behavior in self and others in accordance with the COH guidelines. Adheres to organizational policies and guidelines, supports compliance initiatives, maintains confidence, admits mistakes, conducts business with honesty, shows consistency in words and actions, and follows through on commitments.
  • All leaders are accountable for communication, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and oversight of compliance policies and practices in their departments.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 15 years of progressive leadership roles in IT with a full understanding of IT services, including work experience in leading regional services organizations for large national or global IT operations ($8 - $10B in revenue and/or Fortune 100 organizations).

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • BRMI certification or similar experience

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Master’s level graduate degree and/or M.B.A. preferred.
  • Specific experience in large, complex healthcare systems, academic/research facilities highly preferred.
  • Proven experience delivering IT solutions/services and effectively managing risks in a distributed environment with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Successful track record of IT leadership, execution, and delivery. Experience leading IT organizations in applying innovative IT solutions in support of the business.
