Job Description

Summary

Laboratory helper position is open in Dr. Xia Gao’s lab at BCM studying amino acid metabolism in cancer and obesity utilizing a combination of metabolomics, celling and molecular biology techniques, animal models etc. Laboratory training will be provided.  The laboratory helper will assist the lab members (technician, graduate student, postdoc or research associate) with performing assigned research experiments and help the principal investigator manage overall maintenance of the laboratory and conduct experiments with assigned research mentor. In doing so, the helper will gain laboratory experience and scientific knowledge on interactions of nutrition, microbiome, metabolism, and host metabolic health. Be a college student (undergraduate or graduate).

Job Duties

  • Performs custodial tasks in the laboratory.
  • Organizes and maintains stock of lab supplies.
  • Washes glassware and conducts autoclave.
  • Assists with assigned research experiments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be a college Student (undergraduate or graduate).
