Job Description

Senior Manager, Product Strategy & Innovation (City of Hope National Medical Center; Duarte, CA): Develop and design new commercial medical/health products, solutions, and programs to improve the lives of cancer patients, families, and caregivers both domestically and internationally. Oversee and manage the development of a portfolio of forward leaning medical/health products and innovations aligned with City of Hope’s enterprise strategy. Oversee strategic medical/health product development within an academic medical center from insight and business case development to early operationalization. Lead the conception, development, and launch of healthcare product development through business case development from research, analysis, and inference. With guidance from strategy leadership, build and develop business plans, cases, and financial models in support of growth. Take hardwired clinical programs, translate complex solutions (not including widgets) and know-how, and package and price them for deployments for commercial use (clinical advisory services, remote 2nd opinions, and pathology 2nd reads) for both domestic and international markets. Manage and vet the needs of disparate stakeholders in a matrixed academic health system ranging from researchers and clinicians to business leaders in order to define segment needs, technical requirements, channel partners, and product development activities, ensuring the overall success of portfolios. Monitor key organizational metrics and produce meaningful reports to leadership to ensure alignment of business development plans and proposals impacting organizational, financial, and operational results through business development activities. Perform financial analysis of healthcare products and evaluation of 3rd party products and vendors that may be used in support of the medical center’s product pipeline and roadmap using qualitative and quantitative research and analysis. Create patient journey simulations (intersecting between the patient and the academic medical center) to identify optimal solutions for consideration. Create and implement marketing strategies that promote solutions/products. Create solutions and products based on healthcare payors’ business interests, and address their needs in relation to providers. Identify provider and patient needs related to complex conditions and co-morbidities for the rapid ideation and development of products and solutions for the marketplace. Assess market conditions, competitive landscape, risks, and opportunities. Identify intellectual property (IP) and assess its value. Work with databases and visual analysis to convey details and information. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Health Services Administration or related field, plus five (5) years of experience as a Product Manager or related leadership occupation in the non-profit academic healthcare industry for domestic and international markets.

Alternate Education and Experience: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Health Services Administration or related field, plus three (3) years of experience as a Product Manager or related leadership occupation in the non-profit academic healthcare industry for domestic and international markets.

Must have experience with the following: creating and developing healthcare products, solutions, and services for both domestic and international markets through business case development from research, analysis, and inference, to milestones, go-to-market, and stage-gate approach; taking hardwired clinical programs, translating complex solutions (not including widgets) and know-how, and packaging for deployments; developing financial model and pricing solutions, and products for commercial use domestically and internationally; vetting the needs of disparate stakeholders including researchers, clinicians, and business leaders, and managing expectations during business case development; working with highly visible academic brands, logos, and marketing; conducting financial analysis of healthcare products and evaluating 3rd party products and vendors for product pipeline and roadmap; performing qualitative and quantitative research and analysis; working with databases and visual analysis to convey details and information; identifying IP and assessing its value; creating patient journey simulations between cancer patients and an academic medical center to identify optimal solutions for consideration; working with domestic and international healthcare customers (including payors, providers, employers, pharmabio, and patients) and assessing their needs, market conditions, competitive landscape, and risks and opportunities related to complex conditions and co-morbidities; and working with value-based models (economics and design).

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $54.80 - $91.52 / hour
