Job Description
Job DescriptionThe research Data Analyst at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is responsible for ingressing,
analyzing, and transforming clinical data from internal and external sources. The position will interact and
work with healthcare systems such as Cerner and HealtheIntent. With support from the professional team, the Research Data Analyst will analyze clinical data sets in multiple formats and
transform/manipulate this data to provide insightful analysis or provide this data to others. The position will work across many different data formats, including Excel, CSV, and MS SQL, and experience in these
formats and capabilities like SSAS and SSIS will be valuable. The analyst will use Microsoft SQL and
medical knowledge to work on clinical research projects for the Department of Clinical and Translational Sciences, Division of Clinical Informatics, consistent with its grant funding from NIH, CTSA, COBRE, etc.

work, and has a positive attitude toward their work, colleagues, and the medical school.
Essential Job Functions
1. Experience managing clinical research projects using MS SQL,
2. Strong ability to interpret laboratory findings, physical signs/symptoms, and other information on medical charts
3. Understanding of Relational Databases and Data Warehouses
4. Knowledge of medical coding (CPT9/10, ICD)
5. Experience using SSAS, SSIS, REDCap, Tableau, or other visualization tools
6. Ability to analyze user requirements requested by medical researchers.
7. Knowledge of principles of clinical data collection and reporting; demonstrated ability to use systems and tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Salary Range Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications
Education
BS in Nursing, Computer Science, Public Health, Informatics, or equivalent
degree.
Experience
Ability to work effectively under high pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and implement them accordingly.
High proficiency in English (written and spoken).
