Job Description

The University of Oklahoma Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture invites applications for a 9-month temporary full time faculty to begin August 2023. The position may continue for up to two years. The successful candidate will teach four courses (2 each semester) per year within the professional curriculum of the Master’s of Regional and City Planning degree program (MRCP) (http://rcpl.ou.edu). Preference will be given to applicants that can contribute to our strategic goals related to inclusive excellence. The candidate will have a limited role in advising students and service assignments to the program.

 

The Regional and City Planning program at the University of Oklahoma was founded in 1947 and is one of the oldest planning programs in the United States. The program offers a PAB-accredited Master of Regional and City Planning Degree. Its faculty members perform research and teach in areas focused on public health, community development, public participation, spatial inequality, and developing regions. The Regional and City Planning program enjoys collaborative relationships with the divisions of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Environmental Design within the Gibbs College and welcome applicants with training in these complimentary disciplines.

Required Qualifications

  • A doctorate in urban and regional planning or an equivalent degree in a related field (e.g. landscape architecture, architecture). Applicants with ABD status will be considered if the requirement for Ph.D. can be completed during employment.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence evidenced by syllabi and evaluations of teaching either as a teaching assistant or instructor of record  

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or ability to further the Regional and City Planning program’s strategic initiatives related to inclusive excellence.

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
