Job Description

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Biostatistics within the Graduate School of Public Health is seeking a Statistician. The Department of Biostatistics develops innovative statistical methods to address public health challenges. The faculty provides leadership in public health and biomedical research efforts that have a major impact on the prevention and treatment of disease. Graduates from the program assume leadership positions in academia, government, and industry. This position will provide statistical support for the headquarters of a large multi-center clinical trials group (NRG Oncology) which evaluates the effectiveness of different therapies for the treatment and prevention of breast and colorectal cancers.

Duties include:

- day-to-day administration of study

- direction of support staff - plan development for data collection

- design of data collection - organization and quality control procedures

- design of statistical analyses of data and preparation of study reports.

Requires an advanced degree in Statistics, Information Science or equivalent in order to have the technical background to perform job duties. Knowledge of computer data management systems and methods of analysis is needed. Medical background or familiarity with clinical trial research is needed. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
