Behavior Technicians at our Childrens Hospital focus on delivering exceptional and compassionate care to our patients and their families. You will work under supervision of the Behavior Analyst to provide care to multiple patients with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities. Your primary duties will include:
• Gathering and implementing approved treatment plans using applied behavior analysis.
• Applying reinforcement procedures effectively.
• Documenting and assisting with conducting functional behavior assessments and choosing appropriate method of data collection
• Communicating with parents regarding progress, troubleshooting, strategies for at home, and more.
• Participating in required supervision with Outpatient Behavior Analyst.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire baseline data and implement approved treatment plan using applied behavior analysis neutrally and consistently; fluently implement discrete trial teaching procedures across a variety of patients and functioning levels; follow the prompting hierarchy; apply reinforcement procedures effectively, utilize SDs that are clear, concise and consistent; utilize prompt fading, shaping, and chaining procedures.
  • Assist Outpatient Behavior Analyst in conducting functional behavior assessments to include conducting a record review and Functional Assessment Interview, define behavior and choose appropriate method of data collection, summarize environment, setting events, and medical information.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding progress, troubleshoot, generalization strategies for home, and other elements of parent training as designated by Outpatient Behavior Analyst.
  • Participate in required supervision with Outpatient Behavior Analyst.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree required; can be offset by 6 month’s ABA experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • Successful completion of coursework for Registered Behavior Technician Certification (RBT) required.
  • Must complete 40-hour coursework prior to start date and RBT competency assessment and exam within 30 days of hire.

Complexity of Work:

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and build rapport with parents of diverse backgrounds.
  • Computer efficiency is a must.

Work Experience:

  • 6 months of experience working with children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting students, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Physically able to manage patients of varying weight and sizes.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
