College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary
Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Literature: Research scientific literature regarding current understanding of experimental paradigms; conduct experiments, analyze results and summarize findings; prepare findings for presentations at national and international meetings, publication and grants. Research Activities: Coordinate research activities and procedures of staff, graduate and summer students by continuous discussion amongst lab members; participate in project planning and development of research protocols; develop and evaluate new techniques and procedures. Research Techniques: Advise principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students and technicians in research techniques and procedures; assist trainees and other technicians with analysis of project data. Compliance: Ensure compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to use of biohazardous materials, chemicals, anesthetic drugs and experimental animals; oversee use of materials, equipment, etc. Other: Order supplies and equipment; Maintain and trouble shoot equipment; maintain chemical and equipment inventories; and, perform all related other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Attention to detail. Critical thinking,Technical, Data collection, and Data analysis skills. Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards. Planning and scheduling. Time management.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required) Pay Grade: R9Salary: $15.00-$17.42 hourly.Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Conditions of Employment
