Job Description
A postdoctoral researcher position is available in Dr. Trinh’s laboratory in The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The candidate will work on a project that aims to investigate robustness and metabolism of non-model yeasts (e.g., Yarrowia lipolytica) and engineer them as efficient and robust biocatalysts for biosynthesis of biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials from lignocellulosic biomass and plastics wastes. This project is a collaboration between Trinh lab at The University of Tennessee Knoxville and research scientists at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and The US Department of Agriculture.Qualifications:
An interested candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, microbiology, or related fields with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications. Candidates with strong skills and backgrounds in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, protein engineering, yeast physiology, yeast genetics, yeast metabolism, molecular cloning, CRISPR gene editing, fermentation, high-throughput screening, fermentation, and/or bioinformatics are highly preferred. The contract is on one-year basis and can be extended based on the research progress and funding availability.
