ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Florida Center for Cybersecurity (also known as Cyber Florida), hosted by the University of South Florida, is charged by state statute to establish Florida as a national leader in cybersecurity through education, research, and community outreach. By law, the Center works with the 12 institutions of higher learning that comprise the State University System of Florida and other dedicated partners from industry, government, and the military to achieve this three-pronged mission. To that end, Cyber Florida receives a state appropriation, as well as funding and in-kind resources from various grants, contracts, and other contributions, and among other things, we dedicate those funds and resources to:

Inspire future cyber professionals by introducing cybersecurity programs to K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students throughout the state.
Ensure that college and university degree and certificate programs align with industry and government needs to produce ready-for-hire graduates.
Champion traditional and non-traditional pathways for women, minorities, veterans, and other career changers to enter cybersecurity to help address our state and our nation’s critical cyber workforce shortage.
Invest in cutting-edge research that yields new insights and contributes to our nation’s competitive edge in cyberspace.
Engage millions of Floridians through statewide and targeted cybersecurity awareness programs to help protect those populations and organizations most vulnerable to cybercrime.
POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Cyber Outreach, this position is responsible for directing and overseeing various programs and critical activities designed to promote and publicize Cyber Florida to diverse stakeholders and sectors. The Outreach Manager is a professional who will design, develop, promote, implement, coordinate, and evaluate programs and services provided by Cyber Florida to achieve the above goals and objectives. The position is accountable for serving as the media contact for the Florida Center for Cybersecurity and assisting with the website, social media, email analytics, and digital Outreach initiatives. The incumbent in this position may be called upon to plan and make presentations to external and internal audiences. This position also involves writing, editing, and assisting in developing outreach and promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and online and multimedia content.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Coordinate all public relations activities.
Create content for press releases, blog posts, and news items for social media and the Center’s website.
Develop media relations strategy, seeking placements in print, broadcast, and online media.

Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
Administer all outreach inquiries efficiently.
Collaborates with team members to maintain current, relevant, and dynamic information in print and electronic media; participates in the Florida Center for
Cybersecurity initiated and related activities.

Serve as primary media contact; Develop and implement PR strategies, including media outreach, issuing press releases, fielding media inquiries, and creating and maintaining media lists.
Write content for posts, and post natively to Cyber Florida social platforms.
Oversee daily engagement on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Develops informational materials for promoting and marketing all workshops and activities, including newsletters, pamphlets, and web postings.
Network with the organization's social channels to share relevant content.
Plan social campaigns and coordinate special social projects.

Keep an updated content calendar with release dates/content for posting.
Attend marketing meetings and social media content planning meetings.
Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance brand identity, broaden awareness of the program and increase visibility across key stakeholder audiences.

Performs other duties as assigned as required to meet the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the program area.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):

This position requires a bachelor's degree related to the responsibilities and duties. At least five years of professional experience managing exempt employees; or a master’s degree in an area of specialization appropriate for the position.

Examples of these degrees include (but are not limited to) project management, communications, business management, social media, public administration, and marketing.
