Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Paramedic Instructor will assist the Program Director in the coordination, implementation and on-going evaluation of the Paramedic Education Program.

Responsibilities:
- Plans laboratory sessions, identifying equipment needs and enlisting evaluators.
- Offers one-on-one tutoring on practical skills in the paramedic lab during posted lab hours.
- Offers one-on-one tutoring on didactic material.
- Instructs assigned EMS courses in the classroom and laboratory setting.
- Maintains accurate inventory of all paramedic program supplies and equipment.
- Evaluates new EMS products and equipment.
- Makes recommendations to Program Director regarding equipment/product purchases.
- Assists with class coverage, monitoring lectures, and lecturing as necessary.
- Assists with written test administration and evaluation.
- Evaluates students in clinical/field internship rotations as necessary.
- Submits student evaluations to the Clinical Coordinator.
- Assists EMT and Paramedic instructors in scheduling equipment for classroom instruction and practicals.
- Establishes cooperative working relationship with community health and EMS organizations and agencies.
- Maintains current licensure/certifications possessed upon affiliation with the Medical Center throughout tenure of duty.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree preferred.
Certifications:
- State of Ohio Paramedic Certification required.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required.
- State of Ohio EMS Instructor (EMS-I) – required within one year.
- Basic Life Support Instructor – American Heart Association (BLSI) – required within one year.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association (ACLSI) -required within one year.
- PALS required within one year.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association (PALSI) - required within one year.
- ITLS Instructor (International Trauma Life Support) instructor certification – required within one year.
- National Registered Paramedic- preferred
Work Experience:
- Five years EMS experience as a paramedic. Teaching experience preferred.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
