As an Occupational Health and Wellness Coach, you will work closely with Cleveland Clinic’s management and caregivers to assess work environments, identifying modifications needed to support a safer and more efficient workplace. While creating partnerships, you will empower others to take ownership, leadership and accountability of their well-being using nondirective, empathetic and mindful conversations that employ motivational-interviewing and evidence-based approaches. This position will require you to float between Wooster, Akron and Cuyahoga Falls locations.

Our ideal future caregiver is someone who:
• Has a background in PT, ergonomics, health coaching and/or nutrition and dietetics.
• Is passionate about improving work force safety and helping education locations of worker health and safety.
• Has a tobacco cessation certification. If not already certified, you must obtain this certification within thirty (30) days of starting.

This is a one-of-a-kind role that encompasses many different disciplines, encourages creativity and development of new programs/processes within the GOJO clinic, and has the support of an on-site provider, CCAW leadership and GOJO leadership. In addition, obtaining additional, applicable certifications is encouraged and can be reviewed for reimbursement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with client organization to identify and implement ways to minimize workplace hazards.
  • Observes, assesses, analyzes, and documents the movements and activities of client organization's employees.
  • Creates and implements programs that will assist employees to avoid repetitive stress, cumulative trauma, and other injuries and impairments. 
  • Collaborates with client organization’s supervisors and managers to offer practical suggestions to enhance the safety and productivity of work environments.
  • Provides training as needed to client employees regarding proper body positioning, movement standards, and other injury prevention techniques.
  • Develops and maintains related records and reports of observations, recommendations, and implementation procedures.
  • Develops programs to empower individuals to take accountability of their own well-being.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, Physical, Dietary, Nutrition, or Ergonomics required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of human behavior and musculoskeletal functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct and correctly analyze risk assessments and evaluations.

Work Experience:

  • None

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience working within a related role

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling required to set up ergonomic sandbox and making the necessary changes within the workplace.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • PPE as required at each Occupational health office, or onsite location
    • Ie masks, hard hat, safety glasses
