The Apple Services Engineering team is one of the most exciting examples of Apple’s long-held passion for combining art and technology. Key Qualifications
- Expert level experience with Java or equivalent object-oriented languages.
- 5+ years experience in crafting, implementing and supporting highly scalable backend applications.
- 5+ years experience with Oracle SQL or other relational database and data modeling, as well as NoSQL & big data technologies like Cassandra, Solr, Kafka and Hadoop.
- A deep understanding of HTTP and REST APIs.
- Ability to design and establish coding patterns/standards across multiple code repositories.
- Proven track record to re-architect an expansive code base while transitioning to new technologies/frameworks.
- Experience with container orchestration frameworks (eg. Kubernetes) preferred.
- Experience with Rust preferred
- Shown grasp of multi-threaded programming concepts.
Description
The Apple Media Import engineering team is seeking a hardworking Senior Software Engineer to develop and build features for our Apple Media teams.
As a hands-on engineer, in this role, you'll be responsible for building new features, implementing new services and upgrading existing ones, designing new data models and user workflows supporting content in Apple Music. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building efficient, highly testable server side applications. Knowledge of best practices and patterns for large scale web applications in Java is a must. The applicant should be familiar with code reviews, working in shared repos, and continuous development/deployment across several environments and regular release cycles. The role will require collaborating with cross-functional teams including Operations, QA, Project Management to build applications and services that meet Apple’s high standards efficiency, quality, and privacy.
You should be comfortable asking questions, and troubleshooting with others to solve engineering problems. In addition to delivering phenomenal Apple Music features, you will partner with the rest of the Apple Media Products engineering team to deliver incredible products. We are looking for a teammate who wants to take on problems under deadlines and deliver transformative solutions.

Education & Experience
Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science preferred.
