We are looking for two highly motivated Plant Science Technicians to be involved primarily in tissue culture, but also in molecular work and glasshouse activities and to be part of the Legume Engineering Team working on cowpea improvement using gene technology.

Your duties will include:

  • Under technical direction, completing tissue culture tasks and working with discretion to decide on the timing of operations within the work team's plan and planning ahead to meet experiment and/or project demands.
  • Undertaking molecular biology experiments, laboratory analyses or technology development activities (some non-routine) using a range of techniques (including DNA extractions, PCR, protein extraction, westerns and ELISAs), often working on several parallel tasks.
  • Maintaining plant experiments in the glasshouse and growth cabinets.
  • Experimental record keeping and presenting results with clear written and oral communication.

 

Location: Black Mountain, Canberra ACT

Salary: AU$68k - AU$86k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent relevant work experience in Biology or Science.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Plant Science, and Tissue Culture.
  • Good communication skills coupled with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve results.
  • A history of managing multiple priorities whilst meeting tight time frames and organisational goals.
  • The ability and willingness to learn new laboratory skills and techniques.

Eligibility
