Job Description

Summary
Manager will lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers within the Software Delivery organization, which is at the core of the Apple software release process. This team drives the reliability engineering, observability of services, and reporting on SLI/SLO metrics for multiple critical services, which are used by Apple software engineers. Manager will champion SRE best practices and apply SRE principles to production services to enable Apple R&D teams to efficiently, and securely, develop high-quality features. Mission is reliably produce and distribute Apple software (operating systems, applications, and firmware) to Apple customers around the world!
Key Qualifications
  • Record of staffing and leading teams in engineering reliable and performant services
  • SRE or Dev/Ops experience in managing customer-facing systems in 24/7 environment
  • Knowledge of distributed systems w.r.t. application, networking, containers, and security
  • Excellent judgment and integrity with ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of others and adapt to changing conditions
Description
As a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:
- Lead SRE team responsible for reliability and performance of on-prem and cloud-based services
- Champion continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) automated pipelines
- Manage staging and production environments with goal of maximizing uptimes
- Promote observability of systems for monitoring, alerting, and metrics reporting
- Advocate best practices of change control management and incident response


A successful Site Reliability Engineering Manager will be expected to:
- Influence organizational objectives, align colleagues with direction, and carry out strategic efforts
- Build trust with stakeholders, partners, and vendors through diplomacy, discussion, and follow through
- Explore solutions to problems, evaluate risk vs reward, then execute an informed approach
- Interact with senior management regarding capacity planning and project plans
- Recognize work by engineers and mentor career growth thru organization
Education & Experience
B.S. in Computer Science or related work experience
