Position Summary:
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine seeks applicants for an Instructor. The position includes a 50% non-tenure track, 12-month, state-funded salary beginning July 1, 2023. Reappointment will be contingent upon performance and the availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching: This position will provide instruction for the medical biochemistry curriculum. The instructor will also be responsible for serving as tutor/facilitator in small group sessions with medical students along with the possibility of teaching medical students in the first-year medical curriculum.

Service: The faculty member is expected to participate in service activities beneficial to the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree or Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or the life sciences with training in medical biochemistry, biological sciences or related fields. Applicants in the final stages of their master’s or doctoral work that expect to complete their degree prior to appointment will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience in biochemistry or molecular biology is strongly preferred.
