Business Analyst - Pathology

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Division Administrator and Manager, Laboratory Business, the Business Analyst supports Pathology Services diverse innovative systems, clinical practice testing, research, and regulatory through data analytics and strategic advisory. The position will aid in developing and applying analytics, insight support, for enhanced decision making to senior leadership, as well as work cross-functionally with Revenue Integrity, Finance, and Process Excellence. Incumbent will apply data analytic skills to inform developing trends, evaluate department approaches, as well as track business performance.

Responsibilities: 

  • Must have interpersonal skills to provide effective support of staff and maintain a collaborative working relationship in an interdisciplinary model across multiple departments and with vendors.  Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to initiate requirements documents and present to Pathology key project stakeholders.
  • Strong ability in use of Microsoft Applications (PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Word, Excel)
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and able to work independently.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School Diploma and five (5) years of additional relevant laboratory experience in addition to the 3 years required (for a total of 8 years) of laboratory experience.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a laboratory environment with a broad knowledge of Health Care Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes, and Purchasing.
  • Working knowledge of clinical and pathology regulatory functioning as it relates to billing for both technical and professional component
  • Working knowledge of clinical and pathology purchasing functions as it relates to adherence to Service Agreements between suppliers and the company for equipment, supplies, and send out testing.
